What is Halcion?

Halcion®, which is also known as triazolam, is a short acting benzodiazepine that is normally prescribed to treat:

  • Acute Insomnia
  • Jet Lag

Halcion® works by slowing activity in the brain to allow sleep.

Why is Halcion addicting?

Halcion® is a highly addictive substance and may be habit forming. Halcion® is meant for short term use and is normally taken for less than 7 to 10 days. Halcion® should not be taken for more than 2-3 weeks without close doctor supervision. Within a few weeks of consistently taking Halcion®, the body adjusts to the presence of the drug and a tolerance develops. As a tolerance to Halcion® develops, the body requires more and more Halcion® to achieve relieve the symptoms the drug was prescribed to treat.
