Norco

What is Norco?

Norco®, generically termed hydrocodone/APAP, is a combination of hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever, and acetaminophen, a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of the hydrocodone.

Norco® relieves pain by depressing the central nervous system. Norco® is  prescribed for short term pain due to an injury, surgery or a dental procedure but is also sometimes used for chronic or cancer pain.

Is Norco addicting?

Norco® is a highly addictive substance and may be habit forming. Within a few weeks of consistently taking Norco®, the body adjusts to the presence of the drug and a tolerance develops. As a tolerance to Norco® develops, the body requires more and more Norco® to achieve pain relief. Taking higher doses of Norco® can increase the risk of experiencing uncomfortable side effects.

Signs of Norco Addiction

  • Extreme drug seeking behaviors
  • Financial Problems
  • Appearance of withdrawal symptoms

Norco® is a very powerful drug that the body may become physically dependent upon. If a person no longer wishes to continue taking Norco® or wants to discontinue taking the drug due to its side effects, medical supervision is necessary to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
