Roxicet

What is Roxicet?

Roxicet®, generically termed hydrocodone/APAP, is a combination of hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever, and acetaminophen, a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of the hydrocodone. Roxicet is prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain.

Roxicet is typically prescribed for short term pain due to an injury, surgery or a dental procedure but is also sometimes used for chronic or cancer pain.

Is Roxicet addicting?

Roxicet® is a highly addictive substance and may be habit forming. Within a few weeks of consistently taking Roxicet®, the body adjusts to the presence of the drug and a tolerance develops. As a tolerance to Roxicet® develops, the body requires more and more Roxicet® to achieve pain relief. Taking higher doses of Roxicet® can increase the risk of experiencing uncomfortable side effects.
