What is Valium?

Valium, which is also known as Diazepam, is a long acting benzodiazepine that is normally prescribed to treat:

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Panic attacks
  • Muscle Spasms

Valium works by slowing down or stopping certain nerve signals in the brain. The effect of this drug is to decrease excitement in the brain.

Is Valium addicting?

Valium is a highly addictive substance and may be habit forming. Within a few months of consistently taking Valium, the body adjusts to the presence of the drug and a tolerance develops. As a tolerance to Valium develops, the body requires more and more Valium to achieve relieve the symptoms the drug was prescribed to treat.
