What is Xanax?
Xanax®, which is also known as Alprazolam, is a short acting benzodiazepine that is normally prescribed to treat:
- Anxiety Disorders
- Panic Disorders
- Insomnia
Xanax works by slowing down or stopping certain nerve signals in the brain. The effect of this drug is to decrease excitement in the brain.
How addictive is Xanax?
Xanax is a highly addictive substance and may be habit forming. Within a few weeks of consistently taking Xanax, the body adjusts to the presence of the drug and a tolerance develops. As an addiction to Xanax develops, the body requires more and more Xanax to relieve the symptoms the drug was prescribed to treat.

Xanax Detox
